mr. moon.

Mister and I are going to see my favorite band again next week.  It will be my fourth time seeing them in a year and a half.  It will be my second time seeing them with him.  We're seeing them in the same venue where we saw them together in February.  I'm pretty pumped since they are headlining this time and will (hopefully) play a much longer set.  Plus Christie is an opener and she's just such a sweet little thing.  I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've listened to their new album non-stop since it dropped two months ago -- everytime we get in my car, Mr. - "The Valley is still playing in your car?  Have you listened to anything else?"  The answer is: yes and no.  Someone is going to know every single word of every song now (unless they play entirely new things) because I'm pretty sure that someone has heard everything they've produced (definitely everything legally produced & more leaked stuff than that!).  That someone is ME.  But I know you figured that out, you smart thing, you.

je suis très heureux.

my wknd.

So my weekend was pretty low key.  But lovely.  I had an awesome lunch with a dear friend -- so lovely to catch up over falafels.  Friday night mister & I built a fort in the living room -- we even moved my huge mattress in the middle of it.  We rented the first season of the tv show Community and cuddled up in the fort and laughed.  (Annie is my favorite character so far! Though I've not seen all the episodes.)  Sunday night we of course watched The Academy Awards -- kinda blah as far as the Oscars go, but still okay.  Mila Kunis gets my award for best dressed!  As far as our music went - I came home from work to see my pre-ordered The Valley package in!  I think we listened to the album no less than 5 times straight through on Friday night while we talked and snuggled - it's my favorite Eisley album maybe!  Saturday mister finally purchased The King of Limbs for digital download (he's been so excited about it for awhile now) and we listened to it while we played games that night.  He seems a bit disappointed in it (he's a HUGE Radiohead fan). I liked the last half of the album alright, but I really am looking forward to listening to it when I'm not distracted by game playing so maybe I can soak it in a bit better.  I like Radiohead but don't really consider myself a big fan, so I feel like my opinion on the album doesn't really matter.   We went to The Peddler's Mall with my mama on Saturday for a bit (the only thing we purchased was 1$ & for my dog... ha!) which is always an interesting experience.  Sunday night we took down our megafort and then were so sad by the sight of the regular old living room that we built a mini-fort with the sofa & loveseat and made a bed in that for Oscar viewing.  In other news - my parents love my man more than me I'm afraid (ha!) and only ever want to talk about him... their next long weekend mini-vacay is going to be to his neck of the woods - they're excited, he's excited, I'm excited -- I've made a good choice with that mister, I tell ya.  I know I sound like a broken record, but he's just the greatest thing in existence.

[I apologize for the jumbled, single-paragraph format of this entry.  It's Monday night.  It's rainy & gross outside.  And I'm sleepy.  Hopefully you can make sense of summa that up there.]
xx

wknd.

It's almost the weekend.  Here are my thoughts.

  • excited for the shoestring budget road-trip with mister to the land of our future.
  • lookin at livin' quarters to call our own in the land of our future is going to be fun.
  • seeing a lovely little band for the third time of my life will be so very fantastic that i will probably spend saturday gasping and sighing a lot and my face will be plastered with a ridiculous grin.
  • linda always says "if money can fix your problems, then you don't have any problems."  i'm starting to understand the wisdom in this.  this mantra of hers is speaking to me this week when money has got me down.  trying to be positive.
  • being positive is made so much easier with mister's encouraging words.
  • everyone makes mistakes.  everyone has flaws.  everyone is going through trials and tribulations in their lives.
  • it gets me weak that The Justin Bieber Experience was on glee this week.
  • i'm not a fan of the biebs.  i don't hate him, i'm just indifferent.
  • mister & i fight over who gets to play angry birds on my iphone.  it was started this past weekend when we went to visit my sick aunt that had that game on her ipad.  we started to play, became addicted, then my aunt got mad because mister & i surpassed her level and she took the ipad away from us.  i dl'ed it on suri cruise (my iphone), but it's not the same as on an ipad.  we still fight over who gets to play though.
  • the longest bullet in my list is about some dumb game.
  • modern family is probably the show that i most relate to in life.
THE END.
(you're welcome)

musica musica!

My lovely best friend, Leigh, and I made a trek up to Akron, Ohio to see one of our favorite bands last night.  Eisley is that favorite bands of ours and we saw them play at Musica!  I liked the venue a lot.  I've never been to Akron, Ohio and from what little I saw of it, I understand why.  It's not a bad town, it's just... a random town.  However, Musica gets a lot of awesome bands coming through - lucky Akron!  But my dearest and I traveled 5 hours to see them because it was the closest they were coming to us!  We saw them last year around this same time - last year we only had to travel two hours.

I think everyone we talked to at Musica thought we were crazy for traveling 5 hours just to see a little DuPree family band from Tyler, Texas belt out some lovely harmonies, and maybe we were a bit, but it was worth it.  Eisley never disappoints live!  They are very, very good live!  Little sis, Christie DuPree, was the first opener for them and boy oh boy is she just a cutie pie with that same soulful, achingly pretty voice that her big sisters in Eisley have.  She was just a dear heart too when we talked to her after.  (As was little brother Collin, whom Leigh and I have met before at Eisley shows, working the merch booth.)

Ives the Band played up next after Christie and they were adorable and awkward and awesome!  Leigh and I talked to Bryce, Drew, Jason, and Kyle for a long time after the show and they were such sweethearts.  They won us over in a heartbeat and we bought merch and made promises to come see them if they come to Kentucky!  Check them out!  Here's their "most famous" song, "The Joker" being performed live (not at our venue).

What lovely boys they are!

Of course, the main event, was amazzzzzing!  Leigh and I could just eat those DuPree girls up they are so beautiful and charming and NICE!  It was lovely to see them in person again and hear their sweet voices and kind words.  I'm just so in love with Eisley and all of the DuPrees.  Very nice and talented people!  Sherri was cracking everyone up in between songs with her commentary.  Middle of the tour, everyone's a little loopy.  She had some fun banter with Stacy and Chauntelle.  They played a few songs off their newest, yet-to-be-released album which were VERY promising and they opened and closed with the two songs from the last Fire Kite EP - "Ambulance" is one of my most favorite songs ever.  I really loved their set because they played a lot of OLD OLD OLD, like first few EPs, songs which are just so magical and fun and daydreamy.  Check out "I Could be There for You" below, it's always a crowd pleaser because Eisley fans know that Chauntelle very rarely sings solo and she sings the last verse all by herself.  Everyone always cheers once she's done.  :)

Leigh and I had a fun time.  It was well worth it, even though driving home was kind of rough.  Luckily I took off work today so I drove while LoveLeigh slept since she had to work.  At first she kept me company and I entertained her by spurting off all the Eisley trivia I know - which is a lot - and she kept asking questions.  Felt a bit weird that I knew that much but she couldn't get enough.  Eventually she was lulled to sleep by Ives the Band and Christie DuPree on the stereo and I gulped down 5 hour energies and sugar.  :)  We made it home okay.

But now, I'm going to go back and rest my weary head with my girls.  I'll leave you with a favorite - Stacy singing Fleetwood Mac's song "Silverspring."
